Dear mountain friends: Seeing the words is like seeing the face. The wind in July carries the unique heat of summer, but for many places in Guangxi, the sudden rain has made this summer a bit wet and cold. Time has passed quietly to August, and the peak that affected people’s hearts has gradually receded, and life continues to rise towards the sun. But on the desk of the AIONE brand studio, there is a stack of carefully crafted cards, waiting to be sent to the destination of
the owner of the card’s name!
When the outside world defines “hiking” as “wilderness” and “freedom,” we are more willing to believe that the underlying spirit of the outdoors is “fiery.” When communications were interrupted, when the mountain roads were muddy, and when vehicles were unable to move forward, we saw countless people going spontaneously, carrying heavy mountaineering bags, to the rescue front line. Inside, there may be life-saving drinking water, instant noodles, urgently needed generators in disaster areas, or simple medical kits. This time, hiking means more than outdoor freedom. This group of figures gives it a new footnote – setting off for life and paving the way for new life.
We wanted to do something to remember this group of people. Beginning in mid-July, the AIONE team started to launch the plan of “carving names for those who go against the grain”. We know very well that for true travelers, they never think about leaving their names or receiving applause when they set out. But as the brand owner of AIONE, which has been accompanying everyone over the mountains and ridges, we feel that heroes do not need to know their origins, but their stories should have echoes. This is no ordinary card. It records the path of life measured by the footsteps of a group of outdoor people. It is the full power of the word “hiking” in times of crisis – not only freedom, but also life.
The memory of the disaster will gradually fade away, and life will still be sunny, but the retrograde figure should not be forgotten. Thank you for making the meaning of hiking so profound at that moment. We hope that in the days to come, when you organize your equipment and catch a glimpse of this card, what you will think of is not the coldness of the rain, but the first rainbow that appeared in the sky after the rain stopped; what you will think of is the “new” power that makes you feel extremely solid in your heart even though your feet are covered in mud.
We firmly believe that in the outdoors, we are free; but when needed, we are powerful. The meaning of hiking may be that – after walking through mountains, rivers and lakes, you finally understand why you set out; after seeing the cruelty of nature, you still choose to take risks.
